Hai Duong posts VND465bil in tourism turnover in 2007

VietNamNet Bridge - In 2007, Northern Hai Duong Province is expected to greet about 1,500,000 tourists, including more than 82,5000 foreigners, said its Department of Commerce and Tourism.

The province is also forecasted to earn more than 465 billion VND from tourism turnover, an increase of 29.2 percent over the same period last year.

Hai Duong, a charming landscape in the North, is home to more than 100 historical and cultural relics, especially Con Son – Kiep Bac site and many historical relics was recognized by the State.

Annually, people in the province and neighboring areas crowd into Kiep Bac Festival from August 25 to 20 (lunar calendar) and Con Son Festival from January 28 to 23 (lunar calendar), In particular, Hai Duong is also famous for traditional products such as china, cakes made of ground green lentils, and glutinous rice cake dyed black in a concoction of leaves.

At present, the province has about 83 accommodation houses with more than 1,550 rooms. Of this, there are one four-star hotel Nacimex with 157 rooms, six two-star hotels with 250 rooms, and seven one-star hotel with 160 rooms. Hotels have rooms capacity of 60-70 percent.

The province is promoting the operation 18 travel consultant companies, with the hope of speeding up the number of tourists from the Northwest, Mekong Delta River, and Phu Quoc.

In order to improve the quality of tourism products and build tourism as a provincial major industry in 2008, Hai Duong is attaching investment in An Phu – Kinh Chu tourism area, Trai Bau, Ru By Island, and Chi Linh Star Golf Course.
